Since I've been posting about new technology I thought I would mention Emily Cummins and her sustainable refrigerator. Her refrigerator cools whatever is placed inside it by using condensation/evaporation, and it can be built out of "junk" materials that might be found in so-called "third world" villages. It's a time consuming process but for a village with no electricity its a solution useful for preserving medicine and food. Here's the kicker: Cummins gave the technology away to people in South Africa. Anyone there can use the design plans for free to help those who would benefit from the electric-free refrigerator.
